Solution

 

Supermirco and QSFPTEK designed this large-scale server solution together. The application scenario for this solution is to connect a server/or storage device with 10GBASE-T RJ-45 ports to a network switch with SFP+ ports.

The 10GBASE-T copper module is designed for 10GbE high-speed pass-through. It is used with Cat6a or Cat7 cable to achieve a maximum transmission distance of 100 m. In this solution, some 1000BASE-T modules are also used to cope with some needs that do not require a high rate.

 

Why 10GBASE-T? This solution was chosen based on 10GBASE-T because of the cost-effectiveness, in the 100M transmission distance if you choose the optical module as well as supporting fiber optic cabling system and photoelectric conversion equipment, then it will greatly increase the overall price. The use of the 10GBASE-T SFP+ copper module can directly utilize the off-the-shelf copper cabling system, and if subsequent network maintenance or upgrades are performed, the cost of the copper cabling system is also lower than that of fiber.

 

For customer flexibility requirements. The RJ45 port on the switch is generally used to connect with the network cable, and the vast majority of switches with the number of RJ45 is relatively small, to meet the needs of large-scale copper cabling, you need to use the electrical port module to convert optical ports to electrical ports, as a solution to the problem of the lack of RJ45 ports.

 

Finally, before delivering the complete solution, QSFPTEK engineers carried out laboratory pre-validation of the solution and tested the compatibility of the equipment, and after our rigorous testing, the solution was able to operate perfectly!
