The use of wireless devices, including laptops and mobile phones as well as some tablets, is increasing on the campus, our school has 5000+ teachers and tens of thousands of students, in this project, we plan to upgrade the wireless network of a part of the university building, to provide full coverage, high bandwidth, high-security wireless access network for our students and teachers.

Challenge

1. The original network was using 100M bandwidth. With the need for more digital equipment, IP cameras, and richer network services in the teaching building and library, the network needs of the existing students could no longer be met, and the network needed to be upgraded to a higher bandwidth network.

2. With a large number of visitors on campus, traditional network security is insufficient to cope with the complexity of the network, and students and staff are vulnerable to unauthorized attendees; there is a need to improve the existing level of network security to provide a secure and convenient network environment for visitors and students.

3. There is no professional network maintenance staff on campus, and the operation and maintenance process is time-consuming and error-prone, which can have an impact on the teaching and learning process. So we require easy network management.

Solution

QSFPTEK has designed the following network solution for the customer, which meets all the customer's requirements.

In this scenario, the S7600-32C core switch is deployed in the school's main control room to enhance the high-performance wired network environment for Rutgers University. In terms of the demand for future network capacity, it can meet the network expansion in the next five years or so.

Several S7300-48X2Q4C aggregation switches are deployed between the office building, teaching building, the library, and other buildings, providing high-performance network requirements of 10G access and 40G/100G uplink.

The access switch S5300-24T4S and the PoE switch S5300-24P4TS provide a Gigabit-class access network for a variety of network devices, which can satisfy the users' demand for high-density networks.

In terms of network security, the firewall provides flow control, load balancing, and Internet behavior management to ensure a safe network environment for teachers and students. The seamless roaming of the QAC-B16 Access Controller can provide users with uninterrupted network connectivity through the use of smooth switching between different APs.
