    DWDM Mux Demux finds its primary usage in long-distance transmission systems, where wavelengths are efficiently packed within the C-band spectrum. It supports up to 8 wavelengths in a 100GHz grid (0.8nm) , making it ideal for a variety of applications. It is protocol-agnostic and can be employed for 10/1G Ethernet, SDH/SONET, 16/8/4/2/1G Fibre Channel, FTTx, and CATV systems.

    Basic Principles of DWDM Multiplexing and Demultiplexing

         

    The DWDM Mux Demux essentially combines multiplexing (Mux) and demultiplexing (Demux) functions. At the transmitting end, the Mux combines optical signals of different wavelengths into the same fiber for transmission; at the receiving end, the Demux separates these mixed multi-wavelength signals and restores them to their individual channels. The overall process is one of "merging" at one end and "demultiplexing" at the other, corresponding to each other.
