    The DWDM Mux Demux is commonly utilized for long-distance transmission, where wavelengths are densely packed within the C-band. With a 100GHz grid (0.8nm), up to 48 wavelengths, and with a 50GHz grid (0.4nm), up to 96 wavelengths can be accommodated. This device is versatile, as it is protocol agnostic, and can support a range of applications, including 10/1G Ethernet, SDH/SONET, FTTx, and CATV. The QSFPTEK 8ch DWDM MUX DEMUX is designed with wavelengths spanning from C21 to C28. This device is completely passive and can be easily plugged into a 1U rack mount. Its insertion loss is 2.4dB. When connected with DWDM amplifiers and DCM equipment, the 8ch DWDM transmission system can support long-distance transmission.

    Basic Principles of DWDM Multiplexing and Demultiplexing

         

    The DWDM Mux Demux essentially combines multiplexing (Mux) and demultiplexing (Demux) functions. At the transmitting end, the Mux combines optical signals of different wavelengths into the same fiber for transmission; at the receiving end, the Demux separates these mixed multi-wavelength signals and restores them to their individual channels. The overall process is one of "merging" at one end and "demultiplexing" at the other, corresponding to each other.
